Food and Beverage Server
(NOC 6513 – Food and beverage servers)

JOB DETAILS
Salary: $15.70 / hour for 30 to 40 hours / week

Vacancies: 5 vacancies

Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time

Start date: As soon as possible

Employment conditions: Morning, Day, Evening, Shift, Weekend

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: Experience an asset

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Food and Beverage Server Training, Food Safety Certificate, Safe Food Handling certificate

Weight handling: Up to 9 kg (20 lbs)

Work Setting: Restaurant, Food service establishment

Personal Suitability: Client focus, Efficient interpersonal skills, Flexibility, Initiative, Organized, Reliability, Team player

Computer and technology knowledge: Electronic cash register, Point of sale system

Specific Skills/Tasks:
• Must be of legal age to mix and serve alcoholic beverages.
• Address customers’ complaints or concerns.
• Present bills to customers and accept payment in cash, credit or debit cards, travellers cheques or room billings.
• Describe menu items including daily specials for customers.
• Enforce provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations.
• Advise on menu selections.
• Balance cash and record sales.
• Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs.
• Greet patrons, present menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding food and beverages.
• Serve food and beverages.
• Supervise other servers and bussing staff.
• Take orders and relay to kitchen and bar staff.
• Train staff.
• Assist clients/guests with special needs.
• Provide customer service

Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is available

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling, Fast-paced environment, Overtime required, Physically demanding, Standing for extended periods, Work under pressure
