Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Kingsgate Estate Winery, a vibrant establishment that includes both a restaurant and a banquet facility in Kingsville, Ontario. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts, a passion for creating delicious dishes, and the ability to assist the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations for both the restaurant and banquet events. The Sous Chef will play a key role n menu planning, food preparation, staff supervision, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation in both settings.
The following are the responsibilities of the Sous Chef: collaborate with the Executive Chef in developing and executing creative and seasonally inspired menus for both the restaurant and banquet facility; assist in overseeing food preparation and cooking activities; ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and consistency for both a la carte dining and banquet service; supervise kitchen staff for both restaurant and banquet facility, providing guidance and support in daily operations; assist in monitoring food costs and inventory levels for both areas, and contribute to strategies for optimizing profitability; maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment for both the restaurant and banquet facility, in compliance with health and safety regulations; support front-of-house staff in delivering an exceptional dining experience for guests in both settings; stay informed about industry trends and culinary techniques, and contribute new ideas to menu development for both the restaurant and banquet facility.
Qualifications we are looking for in a Sou Chef are: proven experience as a Sous Chef role in a high-volume restaurant and banquet facility; culinary degree or equivalent certification in culinary arts; strong knowledge of food and beverage trends, techniques and ingredients; excellent leadership and communication skills; ability to work well under pressure and collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house teams; strong organizational and time management skills; ServSafe certification and knowledge of food safety regulations.
