Job Description

Full-time work position as a Home Child Care Provider for a newborn.
The position will require the successful childcare provider to be fully responsible for the newborn (“Child”) in the absence of his/her parents during the weekdays (Monday to Friday). The hourly wage will be $17.00 and the duration will be 40 hours per week.
The main duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Supervise and care for the Child and tend to the emotional well-being of the Child
• Prepare and serve baby formula to the Child and prepare nutritious meals for the Child
• Change diapers and assist Child with bathroom training and use (when older)
• Bathe and dress the Child
• Wash and organize Child’s clothing and bedding
• Put Child to bed (daytime naps and in the evening) and tend to Child upon awakening
• Take the Child to and from periodic appointments (i.e. doctor, clinics), take the Child on outdoor walks (in the buggy) and to local playgrounds (when older)
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home for the Child
• Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding the Child (i.e. amount of formula consumption, diaper changes, etc.)
• Organize activities, such as games and outings, for the Child (when older)
• Discipline the Child according to the methods requested by the parents
• Instruct Child in personal hygiene (i.e. toilet training, teeth brushing, bathing) and social development (when older)
The work will be in the family’s residential home. Optional accommodation in the home is available on a live-in basis at no charge (please note that this is not a condition of employment). A vehicle will be made available at no charge for any appointments or other local trips that require the Child to be taken from the home to attend.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong ability to communicate clearly in English in written and oral forms. Spanish is a bonus
• Self-motivated and organized. Must be able to prepare and maintain a schedule for the Child’s sleep and feeding and plan play activities with the Child. Must keep a schedule for medical appointments, etc. that are away from the home. Must be able to perform these duties independently with minimal supervision by parents.
• Positive attitude and a willingness to work flexible hours as directed by the Child’s sleep schedule
• Completion of a high school diploma is required
• Minimum 1-years of previous work experience in a similar full-time role taking care of a newborn and/or toddler is preferred
• First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training and/or certification is desired
• A valid Canadian driver’s license, or international driver’s license, is required
