Job Description

Your job will include completing all Bi-Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly payroll functions in order to ensure that staff are paid in an accurate and timely manner. You will also be supporting the Finance Team with other accounting related duties as required.

Establish and maintain confidential employee files

Reconcile time entry of Employee’s Time Cards to Excel for accurate flow of Time entry information in the Payroll System

Timely Process of Payroll bi-weekly

Verify pay amounts, hours work, deductions, etc.

Preparation of reports following the payroll process (Seniority, Unpaid hrs., Mileage)

Preparation of Vacation, Banked time, Sick time reports

Assist with running the MakeShift scheduling software and ensuring proper timecard links for payroll purposes

Maintenance of Quarterly WorksafeBC report (Data confirmation from Payroll system)

Municipal Pension Plan reporting

Tax year-end processes

Annual Statutory Reporting filings (MPP, WCB, – working along with the Director of Finance)

Administering benefits for employees

Required languages: English

Education level: Diploma in Accounting

Required skills: Calculate and prepare cheques for payroll Prepare statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions such as taxes, union dues, garnishments and insurance and pension plans Store, update and retrieve financial data Perform clerical duties, such as maintain filing systems Prepare and balance period-end reports and reconcile issued payrolls to bank statements Prepare monthly statements Complete and submit documentations for administration of benefits such as pension plans, leaves, share savings, employment and medical insurance Inform employees about payroll matters and benefit plans Maintain payroll Maintain records of employee attendance, leave and overtime to calculate pay and benefit entitlements, using manual or computerized systems Prepare T4 statements and other statements Perform data entry
