HOURS OF WORK: 10-15 hours per week*
SALARY: $27.20 to $29.46 per hour (2024 rates)
+ 12% in lieu of benefits and vacation
The City of New Westminster has auxiliary positions available for teaching skating in our “Learn to Skate” program. Moody Park Arena offers innovative, creative, fun recreational lessons for patrons 2.5 years to adults.
Candidates considered for these roles need to available for our summer lesson programs that run July 8th – August 28th on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. There will also be some afternoon training sessions during the final two weeks of July.
Priority will be given to candidates who are able to continue working in the Fall.
Successful applicants will possess the following:
• 16 plus years of age.
• Experience working with children in a recreation setting.
• Strong ice skating background.
• Current Emergency First Aid and CPR C Certificate.
• Ability to work effectively within a team setting.
• Ability to prepare and execute daily lesson plans.
• Ability to give written evaluations of students.
• Ability to successfully pass and maintain a clear Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Previous related experience or course work within the field or recreation or teaching will be given priority.
* Candidates will be required to work a variety of shifts including mornings evenings and weekends
