DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation
STATUS: Auxiliary
NO. OF POSITIONS: 8
UNION: CUPE, Local 387
HOURS OF WORK: 5-20 hours per week*
SALARY: $21.38 to $22.12 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits

The City of New Westminster is looking for responsible, friendly and keen seasonal concession workers for our outdoor concessions. Your main responsibility will be customer service and the preparation of food and beverages.

What you need to bring:
• Cash handling and POS processing skills or willingness to learn these skills
• Customer service oriented skills
• Ability to work both independently and in a team
• Problem solving skills
• Ability to safely clean equipment and keep work areas tidy and well stocked.
• Willingness to learn processes and take direction.
• Previous related experience would be an asset.
Job requirements:
• Ability to tolerate extreme heat and humidity which can occur in our kitchens
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
• Ability to stand and walk for the duration of all shifts
• Ability to bend, reach and lift items up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
• Have a valid Food Safe Certificate, Level 1.
• Must be able to pass and maintain a police information check including vulnerable sector check (PIC-VS)
*You must be available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. Concession workers may be scheduled to work 3 to 5 shifts per week, each shift is between 2 to 6 hours long. Vacation blackout period is from June 28 – August 4. Please note that shifts are subject to change due to weather, attendance and events. Shifts at an outdoor concession will be cancelled on days of poor weather conditions.
