Responsibilities:
– Determine and purchase the required ingredients and supplies for meal preparation.
– Generate food order summaries for the chef based on the needs of dieticians, hospital patients, or other customers.
– Supervise, organize, and delegate tasks to staff who prepare, portion, and serve meals.
– Train staff on their responsibilities, hygiene practices, and safety procedures.
– Oversee and ensure the correct assembly of regular and special diet trays, and manage the delivery of food trolleys to hospital patients.
– Maintain consistent quality control standards for both food and service.
– Develop and enforce staff work schedules and operational guidelines.
– Keep accurate records of inventory, maintenance, sales, and waste.
– May assist in the recruitment process for food service staff and contribute to the creation of policies, procedures, and budgets.
– May plan and design cafeteria menus while calculating related food and labor costs.
