The Coalition of Hamilton Indigenous Leadership (CHIL) is a collaborative of Indigenous organizational leaders founded on respect and wisdom. We respond to the needs of our community and support our member agencies by improving resources and advancing Indigenous voices in Hamilton.

Communications Coordinator/IT Internal Support

WE ARE SEEKING A CANDIDATE TO… • Create a communications strategy for CHIL that will effectively share and promote CHIL’s story to a variety of audiences across multiple platforms. • Oversee the development, management, and maintenance of all online communication, including but not limited to: o The Coalition of Hamilton Indigenous Leadership website o Social media accounts (including Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc.) o Communication templates • Work with a web designer to develop branding and template pages for a new website, providing relevant and current material for the site along with ongoing updates and maintenance • Assist with hosting virtual and hybrid meetings for the organization • Provide administrative support connected to maintenance of the IT infrastructure • Provide technical support to staff and CHIL members in their use and navigation of digital spaces, media, and technology • Develop and disperse informational reports/pamphlets/videos on a variety of topics involving Hamilton’s urban Indigenous community, aligned with CHIL’s branding EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION REQUIRED • Knowledge and experience working and/or volunteering with the Aboriginal community of Hamilton and beyond • Demonstrated use of current social media platforms and ability to develop and analyze web presence • Administrative/technical experience coordinating meetings and supporting participants across a variety of virtual platforms • Excellent networking and collaboration skills to foster relationships with community partners and stakeholders. • Practice within the spirit of CHIL’s values • Ability to attend meetings and sessions in various locations in Hamilton • Ability to work independently and in a team environment • Mastery in MS Office Suite, MS 365 and WordPress, WIX or other web design software, to a level that allows for provision of assistance to staff in applications • Post-secondary education in related fields (marketing degree, web design, technical, communications) considered an asset KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS • Must be a confident communicator and presenter • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts orally • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media • Knowledge of local media and current affairs in Hamilton and beyond • Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and in a team environment First Nations, Inuit or Métis candidates will be given priority, please self-identify.
