Job Description

Carlos O’Bryan’s Neighbourhood Pub Kitsilano is looking for a Head Chef for our location at 1774 West 7th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V6J 4Z9. This is a permanent full-time position with 40 hours per week.
The job duties are as follows:
• Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities of Carlos O’Bryan’s
• Hire, train, and supervise sous chefs, line cooks, and dishwashers
• Ensure all food prepared meets the establishment’s standards for quality, presentation, and taste
• Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
• Estimate food requirements and may estimate food and labour costs
• Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
• Recruit and hire staff
• Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, as needed
• Organize and manage catering or special events that may require different menu options or larger quantities of food.
Successful candidates must have the following credentials:
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a chef, including experience in a supervisory capacity
• Be able to communicate in English
• Strong leadership skills
• Flexible hours between day & night shifts
• Must be knowledgeable in inventory control
• Proper use of kitchen tools and equipment and lock out procedures
• Knife skills and common cuts
• Completion of WHMIS or equivalent (workplace hazards training)
• Understand and implement proper fire safety procedures (training provided)
Wage offer:
• $70,000 to $72,000 annually
