STATUS: Auxiliary
NO. OF POSITIONS: One
UNION: CUPE, Local 387
HOURS OF WORK: 2.5 – 4 hours per week*
SALARY: Specialist: $39.29 to $41.78 per hour or,
Prep Work: $22.12 to $23.91 per hour
+ 12% in lieu of benefits & vacation

The City of New Westminster is seeking an enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing individual to teach ukulele lessons to older adults at Century House. Lessons will commence in winter 2025. Some specific duties will include developing curriculum in line with the ongoing programming and upholding high quality of work and professionalism in the City of New Westminster. In your resume, please highlight your training, teaching methods and any classes you have developed. If you have experience in other music disciplines, please note them in your resume.

Requirements:
• Minimum completion of Grade 12/equivalent with some related music theory and teaching background or an equivalent level of training and experience.
• 3+ years of teaching experience.
• Ability to teach and provide instruction and assistance to users in the above noted programs; and to employ contemporary service excellence principles.
• Skill in the operation of equipment used in the work.
• Sound knowledge of non-formal teaching methods and group leadership techniques.
• Excellent supervisory and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass and maintain a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.

*This position works a flexible schedule and non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends. Schedule adjustment may be necessary on occasion due to operational needs.
