JOB DETAILS
Workplace information: On site – Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Salary: $35.40 hourly for 30 hours per week

Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years as meat cutter.

Work setting: Supermarket and meat department

Specific Tasks/Responsibilities: This position requires not only meat cutting functions but will also have to perform some supervisory functions for the supermarket meat department.

Meat Cutting Functions:
• Clean meats, fish and shellfish to prepare for processing or cutting.
• Cut carcasses, sides and quarters and prepare standard cuts of meat.
• Prepare special cuts of meat ordered by customers.
• Cut, trim, bone, tie and grind meats such as beef, pork, poultry and fish to prepare meat in cooking form.
• Wrap, package prepared meat and price meat products for sale.
• Remove bones from meat.
• Cut and weigh meat and fish for sale at self-service counters or according to the customers’ order or special meat.
• Cut fish into steaks and fillets.
• Make special sausages.
• Slice cooked meats.
• Prepare special orders.
• Prepare special displays of meats, poultry and fish products and shellfish products and standard cuts of meat and poultry using knives & band saw.
• Shape, lace and tie roasts, other meats, poultry and seafood.
• Grind and slice meat using grinders and slicing machines.
• Check the meat storage in the Supermarket and keep it adequate.
• Check out the food storage conditions on regular basis.
• Keep records of the sales of meat products & determine the cost, products line an freshness of products as per company and customer requirement.
• Cut poultry into parts.
• Sell meats to customers.
• Train meat cutters.

Added Supervisory Functions – Assist the supermarket manager in the following:
• Supervise the meat section.
• Order merchandise according to requirements.
• Organize and maintain inventory.
• Resolve issues that may arise, including customer requests, complaints and supply shortages.
• Prepare reports as needed.
