Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Executive Chef to lead our culinary team at Kingsgate Estate Winery, a dynamic establishment that includes a restaurant and banquet facility in Kingsville, Ontario. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating innovative and delicious dishes, a strong background in culinary arts, and a track record of success in managing kitchen operations for both restaurant service and large events. The Executive Chef will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen, including menu planning, food preparation, staff training and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation for both the restaurant and banquet event.
The following are the responsibilities of the Executive Chef: develop and executive creative and seasonally inspired menus for both the restaurant and banquet facility, aligning with the establishment’s concept of customer preferences. Oversee all food preparation and cooking activities, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and consistency for both a la carte dining and banquet service. Manage kitchen staff for both the restaurant and banquet facility, including hiring, training and scheduling to ensure smooth operations of both areas. Monitor food costs and inventory levels for both the restaurant and banquet events, developing strategies to optimize profitability. Maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment for both the restaurant and banquet facility, in compliance with health and safety regulations. Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure a seamless and exceptional dining experience for guests in both settings. Stay current on industry trends and culinary techniques,incorporating new ideas into menu development for both the restaurant and banquet facility. Qualifications we are looking for are: proven experience as an Executive Chef or similar leadership role in a high-volume restaurant and banquet facility; culinary degree or equivalent certification in culinary arts; strong knowledge of food and beverage trends, techniques and ingredients; excellent leadership and communication skills; ability to work well under pressure and manage a fast-paced kitchen environment; strong organizational and time management skills and ServeSafe certification and knowledge of food safety regulations.
